| Yes, I have a classement for the race: http://team-yacht-treff.de/pub/cls-caracas-lisbonne.html.
I have updated our start-page at http://team-yacht-treff.de. There you find all the links to the classements, the VMG-Tool, and the Polars.
For the overall classement over all races, please look at the web page of the Mystics.

Fair winds Herve En tout cas je trouve le classement du TYT beaucoup plus complet et plus parlant que celui d'OV que je n'utilise pas. Donc merci au TYT ! Patrick sur INSOMNIE

It would be nice if you and Matthieu may join efforts (and merge) your informations in order to have a very detailed information from teams
I am sure that all us (and Hervé, of course) will appreciate it very much

This is a great idea. But a lot of work might be inside that, so we have to think about such things first. Matthieu? A much better idea would be a sailing weekend on real water between TYT, Mystics, and other teams... This idea just popped off my head, wouldn't that be something? - I know Michael Desjoyaux tours around France with a fleet of Grand Surprises, but of course maybe there are other events. We would of course need to find a sponsor for this.

| Hi Brainaid, Once a year I race J24's in Europe, either the Eurpeans (13th 2007) or Worlds (2008 dont ask),if you want to come do tactics for us that would be cool. The rest of the time we are in the UK. Maybe we could arrange a regatta where we have different virtual racers on differnt boats racing each other. One thing is, I can tell you that real racing is very different to virtual racing! Starts, boat speed, crew work all play a huge part, only if they are all in place can your tactician shine! I understand your point but mine is different. The experience in the past made clear that giving the speed of the boats on the classification leads many skippers to copy the actions of the leader. The race becomes then a "did you follow the leader well enough ?". By the way if you find brainaid's classification usefull isn't it to go as soon as possible to the spot where boats are going faster than yours ? Robots + detailed classifications are changing the spirit of the races. I am not very happy with this "weapon race" that let less place for fun and discussions among skippers but more place to computer's dictature. However that's the way it turns and seemingly I can't do nothing on this. Best regards Herve | |

| I don't think the more detailed classification helps much to find the way across the ocean, it is more of an interesting statistical analysis. At this very moment, I go into the light winds north of my position. There are boats south of me with more wind and sailing faster. They will (temporarily, I hope ) pass me in the classification. I do not go there, because I see more promising winds in the north tonight and tomorrow. Most of my descisions are driven by weather forecasts, but there is one important tactical factor: Do not go behind the fleat. I imagine a line drawn from North-West to South-East going through all the boats in the race. As long as I do not drive past this line other boats on other strategies are fine to be faster and pass. If my weather forecast tells me to fall behind this line, I will not follow the forecast directly, but do something in between the forecast and my tactic of "stay in front of the direct neighbors". Seeing all other boats on the screen is what helps my strategy more than my detailed classement. But this is the way ocean racing works today. Pogo 40s get born with a computer installed, I doubt their sailors use it to play Solitaire to fight the boredom at sea... @Rumble: I know sailing a real boat needs skilled crew before tactics can work properly. This was my idea behind having a real race. It would probably be a lot of fun with results very different to the virtual races... About the J24: How far do you go offshore? - My specialty is long ocean passages, the shorter the race and the more the coastal effects on the weather, the less helpful is my view of the weather. This is kind of "far-sighted"... | |

| You can It is true that the RWC is now become of high level and that the computers are now parts of the routing game. I see that I will have to make all these informations available. I think about it. Best regards Herve | |
